Adelina Chernaeva-Yolova
Some people discover music. Others get discovered by their music teacher. With Adelina, it was the latter.
The Journey
Back at the Russian School, Taisa Fyodorovna noticed that the girl who recited poems so confidently at school celebrations would probably sing just as well. As it turned out, she had set in motion a rather long choral career.
The baton passed to Neli Lazarova, and later to Prof. Hristo Krotev, under whose direction Adelina sang in the university choir. When she learned that choral singing was actually a university subject, for probably the first time in her life she had nothing against one more class on her schedule.
After graduation she faced a serious question: where to keep singing? The internet offered the answer – “Morski Zvutsi”. An audition followed, and in 2008 a long musical friendship began.
Between 2013 and 2016 she temporarily traded rehearsals for lullabies and the concert schedule for motherhood. Then she returned to the choir, where the soprano section could once again count on her.

By day she translates from one language to another; in the evening she switches to the language of music. In both cases, she insists that everything sound right.
Trivia
🎓 A translator by profession – and in the evenings she translates into the language of music.
💃 Life outside work and rehearsals is a mix of sport, dancing, travel, new challenges and good whisky.
⏳ She has the enviable ability to fill her free time so successfully that sometimes the free time itself is hard to find.
😄 In her own words, she is cheerful, funny and a little crazy. Exactly how little – we leave to her colleagues to judge.
A Curious Fact
Her first concert with “Morski Zvutsi” began with an unexpected exchange of roles. On the way from the rehearsal hall to the Festival Complex, Adelina picked up someone else’s garment bag. Nothing unusual – had her own dress been inside. Instead, she found a man’s suit belonging to Dancho, one of the basses.
As it turned out, Dancho was equally surprised by the lady’s dress in his bag. After a brief search the two found each other backstage, the swap was corrected, and the concert went on without any unplanned costume experiments.
And so, at her very first performance, Adelina learned that in choral singing it matters not only to be in the right place in the score – but also in the right costume.
“A place where beautiful music meets wonderful people, and concerts and tours turn into stories we keep telling for years. And that special feeling when many different voices come together as one. In such moments, all the rehearsals, the effort and the racing through everyday life are worth it.”
