Ivanka Hristova

Ivanka Hristova, deputy chair of the executive committee of the City (later Municipal) People's Council, was invited to head the choir in the autumn of 1978 and elected chair at the annual meeting in October 1979.

She secured money for the choir's journeys, led the group in Idar-Oberstein (1980), where the hosts gave her a gold badge, and gave the address at the choir's 25th-anniversary concert in 1982. For the 50th anniversary she contributed a memoir to the book, calling Varna the most musical city in Bulgaria.
