Lyuba Lipova

Honorary chair · 1959–1962

Honorary chair

Lyuba Lipova, head of the Culture department of the City People's Council, is the person the choir owes its existence to: the decision of 1 March 1956 to create a representative city choir was taken on her proposal, and she personally persuaded Prof. Georgi Dimitrov to let Marin Chonev return to Varna to lead it.

Chair from 1959 to 1962 and for many years deputy chair, she left the fullest account of the choir's beginnings and wrote about its tours of Poland (1970) and Cork (1976) in the press. On 24 April 1980 the choir honoured her as its founder and long-time chair.
